Two ways to test your reasoning: the Aurelian IQ Test and the Cognitive Reasoning Index

Reasoning is the engine under decision-making, problem solving and learning. Aurelian Academy now offers two online assessments so you can see how you reason, in a quiet half hour, from your laptop or phone.

The standard IQ test (indicative)

This is the familiar online format: matrices, number series, analogies and shape rotation. It has 30 questions and takes 20 minutes, and it returns an estimated IQ score. It scores against assumed population norms, so treat it as a fast indication, not a measurement.

The Cognitive Reasoning Index (CRI)

The CRI is the research-based option. It has four timed subtests built on the Cattell-Horn-Carroll model of intelligence, 40 questions in total over 28 minutes, scored with Item Response Theory. Instead of a single number it reports a percentile with a 95% confidence band, which is a more honest way to describe a score. Reliability is measured from real responses, and the norm sample is still being built, so results will become more precise as more people take it.

How to get a fair result

  • Choose a quiet place and finish in one sitting.
  • Do not use a calculator or outside help.
  • Read the result as a snapshot of one session, not a verdict on your ability.

Neither test is a clinical or diagnostic assessment. Used sensibly, they are a starting point for a better question: where does my reasoning help me, and where do I need to slow down and check?
